pital bispensary $10 per mense in all $5 per mensein or $660 a year for each officer.

The rents or Dispensary and quarters has been

calculated at $15 per mensem each at the outstations it

would cost less in the central aistricts more than that.

The health officer would have to live in the

City as his cuties would require him to be all over the Co-

lony. His duties wo-la be to supervise the Chinese medical

officers and their dispensaries au to make any reports or

enquiries required by the Sanitary Boaru anu to assist the

Medical Department when called. I suggest his emoluments

should be similar to those of Dr. Marques as at present the

the Medical Officerto e Gaol and Public Mortuary with the 32-

ception that he would require at least four chair coolies.

The extra amount of dispensing and making arugs

for these dispensaries would require another European Apo-

thecary at the Government Civi Hospital whose pay should

be on the same scale as the present Assistant ApothecarY,

I have &c.,

(Sq.) P. B. C. Ayres,

Colonial Surgeon.

Hon: G.T.M. O'Brien, C.M. G.

Colonial Secretary.
